About:
Bushrah Balogun is an Analyst at Dev-Afrique Development Advisors. She contributes to the team interventions in strengthening government systems, driving strategies and policies, and critical stakeholder engagements, as well as managing, laws, regulations and investments in Africa.
In her previous role with the Kaduna State Government, working as the Special Assistant to the Kaduna State Government across the Deputy Governor’s Office and other MDAs, under the Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai Administration, and a Kashim Ibrahim Fellow. Bushrah exhibited leadership and capacity in her contribution to the development and implementation of policies, projects, and programmes in line with the state developmental agenda. She was instrumental in leading some reforms in interventions across health, gender and social inclusion, human capital development, and youth empowerment. As a Kashim Ibrahim Fellow, she co-created and executed ten different lofty community projects across 3 Local Governments in Kaduna State to improve the livelihood and wellbeing of the residents – as a way of giving back to the state for creating opportunities for young vibrant Nigerians interested in public service and good governance. She also worked with Preston Consults Limited as a part-time Policy Associate with Preston Consults, a leading research and management consultancy by supporting its efforts in in the development and dissemination of Open Government Partnership National Action Plan and the development of Training Needs Assessment Tools for the Yobe Economic Forum Support Program.
Lastly, during her work as the Technical Assistant to the Director General of the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA), she was part of the team that restructured the state-owned health insurance policy via the development and implementation of a human-centered design strategy that positively changed the social behaviors of residents to the use and acceptance of the contributory health scheme, thereby ramping up the number of enrollees in the scheme, especially in the informal sector by twenty percent.
Bushrah holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Microbiology from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Nigeria, and a series of strategic certifications in Good Governance and Leadership (Policy Imperative) and Project Management from the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and Utiva, respectively. She is also currently a student at the School of Politics, Policy, and Governance (SPPG).
