Job Summary
We seek individuals interested in working at the intersection/nexus of consulting and impact for six (6) months. The ideal candidate will work on projects that aim to solve development issues in Africa. As a fellow, you will work in close contact with experienced professionals and specialists across Dev-Afrique’s projects. The fellowship is an intensive programme where you are placed into a project setting and expected to develop and implement evidence-based solutions and recommendations that address our clients’ needs and deliver impact at the last mile.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and analyse quantitative and qualitative data from various sources (surveys, government databases, open-source repositories, project records, etc.).
- Conduct statistical and descriptive analyses to identify patterns, trends, and insights that inform project decision-making.
- Create high-quality data visualisations, dashboards, charts, and reports to communicate complex findings effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support the design and implementation of data collection tools (e.g., KoboCollect, ODK, SurveyCTO) for field-based research and M&E activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to provide analytical support and evidence-based recommendations.
- Participate in all required training sessions, team meetings, debriefings, and quality assurance reviews.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all project and respondent data.
Requirements
- This is a six (6) month fellowship program and participants are expected to contribute 80 hours a month.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum three years cognate experience workingin data analysis, research, or a related analytical role.
- Proficiency in data analysis tool or language (e.g., Excel [advanced], Python, R, STATA, SPSS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with research and analysis tools, such as Excel, Power BI
- Strong understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French (required) and English (required), given the DRC operating context.
- Commitment to data quality, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Experience working in the development sector, specifically with healthcare, agriculture, or energy, would be a plus.
- Experience working with government agencies, NGOs (Non-governmental Organizations), or other development stakeholders in Africa
