About:

Eng. Jonathan Kampata holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Zambia (UNZA) and a Master of Science Degree in Water Resources Engineering from the Free University Brussels (VUB). He is a Fellow of the Engineering Institution of Zambia.

Eng. Kampata is a specialist in sanitation, water supply and water resources management with 28 years’ working experience at operational, management and leadership level in the water and sanitation sector, both in the public and corporate sector. He has held various positions such as Water Resources Operations Manager at the Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA). From July 2017 to July 2022 he was Managing Director of Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company (the largest water and sanitation utility in Zambia) where he was responsible for the US$665 million portfolio of water and sanitation projects which included capacity development, water supply, onsite sanitation, fecal sludge management and the sewerage systems development.

He has undertaken assignments for GIZ, KfW, the African Development Bank, UNDP, FAO, Global Water Partnership, CRIDF and SADC. Jonathan was awarded the 2021 and 2019 Chief Executive Officer of the Year Award by the National Water Supply and Sanitation Council.
